Crisis Intervention

Role of the Advocate

Advocates provide support, encouragement, and education for victims. With the help of advocates, victims make informed choices about their recovery. Advocacy may be provided by volunteers or paid staff.

Multiple advocate training sessions are held every year. After completing the 40-hour training, volunteer advocates are required to invest a minimum of 30 hours or 4 shifts per month to maintain their volunteer status.

Volunteers are encouraged to attend monthly meetings where they receive further support, continued education, and information regarding the general business of Hope Harbor.
