It's My Space
“It’s My Space” is a Kentucky-specific adaptation of an evidence-based middle-school prevention program that teaches students about personal boundaries and how to navigate those within friendships and older relationships. Each program is grade-specific and age-appropriate. The program includes four highly interactive classroom sessions that deepen students’ understanding of personal boundaries and why they are important.
Additionally, students complete a school hotspot mapping activity that identifies spaces in the school where they feel safe, unsafe, or in-between. Prevention educators and school administrators use this information to make changes to the school environment that will better keep students safe.
This program is in accordance with SB 150 requirements.

Back to TopicsGreen Dot for High School
Green Dot for high school students is an evidence-based primary prevention program designed to teach participants safe ways to intervene in situations of bullying, dating violence, sexual harassment and assault. Green Dot is a research-based program shown to decrease perpetration of violence by 17%-21% in Kentucky high schools by the use of bystander intervention. The research study was conducted over 5 years between the University of Kentucky and 26 high schools with the help of Kentucky’s rape crisis centers. Green Dot consists of training faculty, staff, students, and community members on how all of us can do Green Dots regardless of our obstacles to make our community safer. The trainees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to safely and necessarily intervene around violence.
The Bystander Training is a 5-hour intensive training with identified Popular Opinion Leaders (POLs) in a school. This is a great opportunity for select students as they can include the Bystander Training in their college applications.
Additionally, a 1-hour Green Dot Overview is available to teach a broader percentage of the students about these same methods of bystander intervention on a smaller scale.
This program is in accordance with SB 150 requirements.
