Get Involved » Barren River Anti-Violence Alliance (BRAVA)
The Barren River Anti-Violence Alliance is a collaborative effort between several local non-profit agencies to reduce rates of power-based personal violence in our community. Power-based personal violence (PBPV) is any form of violence where the primary motivator is the assertion of power, control, and/or intimidation in order to harm another. There are many forms of power-based personal violence, including
- sexual harm
- intimate partner violence (domestic violence, teen/adult dating violence)
- child abuse
- bullying
- human trafficking
- stalking
These forms of violence all have one thing in common: they are rooted in the assertion of power and control.
Our goal is to work as a community within the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD) to find solutions that reduce power-based personal violence. We invite local agencies to participate in our meetings. This coalition meets in person quarterly and virtually once per month.
