Survivors

Hope Harbor’s mission is to empower and support anyone impacted by sexual trauma. Hope Harbor is a non-profit crisis counseling center that provides one-of-a-kind services to victims of sexual assault and their families and friends. Services are available to residents in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, and Warren Counties in Kentucky.

Family / Friends

Sexual violence not only is traumatizing and difficult for the survivors, but supportive friends, family or caregivers are also affected.  Here are some options of how you can be supportive and get assistance for your own feelings.

Populations

Hope Harbor recognizes survivors do not come to us with only their survivor identity. Women and girls are often the only ones discussed as victims and survivors of sexual assault. We know men and boys are survivors, the LGBTQ+ community is assaulted at higher rates than the straight/cis community, accessing support services as a non-English speaker can be difficult, along with the many other barriers people face. All survivors regardless of gender, race, class, ability, nationality, or sexual orientation deserve the upmost treatment in order to begin recovery.

Therapeutic Counseling

Whether it’s a few days after the abuse or years after—whether the assault happened locally or outside of our service area—we’re here to help. We offer free, confidential counseling services to survivors of sexual violence and everyone else in the community who’s been affected by this crime, including survivors’ acquaintances, friends, family and partners. Our goal is to assist clients in the healing of issues that stem from the trauma of sexual violence, helping them to cope with the immediate crisis and regain a sense of control and trust.
